The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW)youth scholarships promote patriotism and are an investment in our youth and our nation’s future! Congratulations to all of the VFW Post 9143 winners, those selected to win at the District 2 level, and VFW Department (State) of Georgia levels.
- Voice of Democracy is a written & recorded essay scholarship for high school students. The award recipients are:

- Patriots Pen is a written essay entry for middle school students. The award recipients are:
- 1st Place – Ashna Joshi
- 2nd Place – Knox Brasfield
- 3rd Place – Suhaan R. Meerapatel
- 1st Place – Ashna Joshi
- Smart/Maher VFW National Citizenship Education Teacher award who promote civic responsibility, flag etiquette and patriotism. The award recipients are:
- Moran O’Leary – New Hope Elementary
- Jessica Jacobs – Otwell Middle School & 1st place for District 2
- Steven Moran – Lambert High School
- Public Safety – Law Enforcement of the Year is for an individual who serves in a municipal, county, state, or federal unit tasked with enforcement of the laws pertaining to their area of responsibility (in the public sector). The award recipient is:
- Master Deputy Christopher Young, Forsyth County Sheriff’s Department

Public Safety – Firefighter of the Year is for an individual who actively fights fires as a member of any public or volunteer company organized to perform those duties and give assistance to our nation’s citizens. The award recipient
- William J. “Jason” Early, Dekalb Co. Fire Service & selected as the VFW Department of Georgia Public Service Firefighter of the Year.
