to Cumming, Georgia VFW Post 9143.
We are located in Forsyth County, Georgia , which is an easy drive up GA 400
about 25 miles north of Atlanta. Cumming is a vacation hot spot near Lake Lanier and is a small town rich in history and natural beauty.
VFW Post 9143 was chartered on February 12, 1947 The Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars is a national, patriotic, non-profit organization established in 1914. We show unwavering support for real American heroes and live by the motto, "Honor the dead by helping the living." Over a half a million members nationwide are committed to serving veterans and their families, we promote pride in America, teach young people about the cost of freedom, and we serve our communities. The founders of the Auxiliary placed the greatest emphasis on a program developed to assist veterans returning from battle and assimilating into civilian life. Today our Post has a Support Center called "About Face" that helps our local soldiers returning from war. In addition to volunteering at Veteran Hospitals and promoting patriotism throughout Forsyth County Schools, Auxiliary members raise funds for Cancer Aid and Research and contribute to the VFW National Children's Home for orphaned children. We are patriots and community leaders. |
Come play bingo, attend a pancake breakfast, buy a T-shirt and/or become a member. To be a member, you must be a grand daughter, daughter, sister, wife, mother or grandmother of a war veteran. You do not have to be a member to donate, contribute or volunteer.
Our Post home is nestled in the Georgia pines just north of town square. The back yard of the Our ladies are actively involved with community and Post events. post home has a shaded pavillion, and lots of green grass and trees where we have room for 200 children who show up annually for our Easter Egg hunt. We have a target range that is used by the Boy Scouts and the 4H. The post hall has a meeting room, a full kitchen, and a lounge. It also houses a large banquet hall where we host Bingo every Saturday night at
7pm and Tuesday night at 7:30 pm. Ample
parking is available for members & guests at all post functions. There is also a large outdoor permanent pavilion
for outdoor events.
